The Order of the Roses
Contribution: VFX, tool creation, rigging, and animations.
This was our group's first game made in our custom engine. Since we are the first procedural artist class at TGA, there was no existing pipeline for implementing shaders into custom engines. Our team had to create one from scratch. As we hadn’t received any formal training in HLSL code, we developed a workflow where we could build shaders using a node-based system and convert them into HLSL code. Developing this process took up most of the project time, which left less room for polish when it came to the look of some of the VFX—something I found a bit unfortunate given how good the the game looks in general.

Black Site: Deep Horizon
Contribution: VFX and tool creation.
I created a tool to generate pre-baked destructible assets used in, for example, the enemy death animations. The tool converts RBD simulation data into armature-driven animation data to make it compatible with our custom engine. Me and Carl also worked together in creating an export script in Blender Python API to simplify the pipeline between Blender and our custom engine.

Cooking Grandma
3-day Game Jam at The Game Assembly.
This was a really fun and intense project! Carl and I shared the responsibility of all in-game graphics, including characters, assets, animations, rigging and visual effects. The theme of the jam was “Combination”. The game won both Best Narrative and the Student’s Choice awards.
