Water Simulation

This water simulation is the first of my three portfolio pieces, and took approximately five weeks (half-time) to complete.

The water simulation was heavily inspired by Avatar: The Way of Water, as I wanted to explore large-scale water effects and how to make them feel believable.

CG water in film has always fascinated me, and this project was an opportunity to dive deeper into the complexities of fluid simulations.

I find working with simulations in Houdini is both exciting and challenging, as there is always more to learn in this field. If I could further develop this piece, I would definitely focus on refining the whitewaters movement for a more natural appearance.

Credit and thanks to Dedegaard for the Tulkun model and rig work. Special thanks to Nora at Important Looking Pirates for invaluable feedback throughout the process. I also want to thank Miguel Perez Senent for his insightful theoretical approach. Lastly, a big thank you to my family for their support and feedback!
